Helsinki Design Open presents the Finnish design and lifestyle industry in a unique architectonic environment and raises current design aspects and approaches. The event presents an opportunity to see Aalto’s architecture and design classics in parallel with modern Finnish design knowledge. 

 

Rautatalo’s Marmoripiha, where the event takes place, has for decades been a favourite place of urbanites with its cafés. Artek, Artek’s gallery and Marimekko have operated in Rautatalo, a building designed by Alvar Aalto. Read more

 

In addition to becoming acquainted with Marmoripiha, the visitors have the possibility to see the collections of Art Foundation Merita that are usually not open to the public. More infor about the art tours in June.

 

Lunch speeches are arranged at lunch time so that urbanites and travellers can attend and enjoy the food and coffee alongside with interesting speeches. The Rautatalo’s café is opened to the public during the event.
